Northwestern rattled off four consecutive points for a 14-8 edge before the run was stopped by an Anstasiia Maksimova swing. The Wildcats, however, would go on to lead by as many as eight.
  • Set 2 (22-25) |  Northwestern captured the first two points, but Tali Marmen helped Rutgers strike back with the kill and back-to-back aces marking the first of four lead changes. The Wildcats took a 13-10 edge, but the Scarlet Knights bounced to tie the set up at 17-17. In all, the set endured 11 ties culminating with a Jasmine Stackhouse kill to knot the score at 22-22.
