Women’s Lacrosse Reveals 2020 Schedule

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – A new era begins in just a few months under new women's lacrosse head coach Melissa Lehman, as the Scarlet Knights revealed their 2020 schedule. The 16-game slate features matchups with seven 2019 NCAA Tournament qualifiers, three conference champions and the reigning NCAA champions. RU will host nine home games in 2020, which includes three against Big Ten Conference opponents.
Due to Big Ten Conference rules, the exact day and times for all conference games will be released at a later date.
February (3 home, 3 away)
After an exhibition against Fairfield on Feb. 1 at the Marco Battaglia Outdoor Practice Facility, Rutgers opens its 2020 home slate with LIU on Saturday, Feb. 8 at SHI Stadium. The Scarlet Knights' first road contest follows with a trip to Philadelphia against Temple on Wednesday, Feb. 12. RU hosts Delaware on Saturday, Feb. 15, followed by back-to-back road contests at Marist (Feb. 22) and UPenn (Feb. 26). Rutgers closes out the month with a home game against St. Joe's on Saturday, Feb. 29.
March (4 home, 2 away)
March opens with a midweek road tilt at Monmouth on Wednesday, March 4. The Scarlet Knights will then host back-to-back home games against 2019 CAA champions James Madison (March 7) and Lafayette (March 10), who RU defeated last season in Easton, Pa. The Big Ten Conference slate follows with a trip to reigning NCAA champion Maryland (March 12-15), before Rutgers hosts Michigan (March 19-22) and Penn State (March 26-29).
April (2 home, 2 away
Four games close out the regular season, as Rutgers heads to 2019 NCAA Final Four participant Northwestern (April 2-5). Johns Hopkins visits Piscataway the weekend of April 9-12, followed by the regular season home finale against 2019 Big East Conference champion Georgetown on Wednesday, April 15. The regular season concludes at Ohio State (April 23-26). The 2019 Big Ten Tournament will be held May 1-3 in Columbus.
Outlook
Under the guidance of Lehman, The Scarlet Knights return their four top scorers from a season ago, including junior Taralyn Naslonski (39 g, 21 a), senior Samantha Budd (36 g, 13 a), sophomore Marin Hartshorn (23 g, 10 a) and redshirt senior Dakota Pastore (18 g, 8 a). In addition to the returnees, welcomed 13 rookies to this year's team.
