Wrestling Opens Big Ten Action with Maryland Saturday at RAC

Scarlet Knights celebrate Military Appreciation Night
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – With more than 5,000 fans expected in attendance, Rutgers wrestling (5-0) opens Big Ten dual action on Saturday when it hosts Maryland (1-1) for a 7 p.m. matchup at the RAC. The Scarlet Knights look to claim their sixth consecutive victory over the Terrapins since both joined the conference during the 2014-15 season.
Saturday's dual will stream live on BTNPlus with Lou Brogno (play-by-play) and Nick Kosko (analyst) on the call. Chris Tsakonas and Robert Baxter will have the radio broadcast on WRSU (88.7 FM). Saturday will be military appreciation night, as the first 500 fans through the gates will receive Rutgers wrestling camo hats. The Scarlet Knights will also rock camo singlets for the first time in program history.
Match Day Enhancements: What to Expect at the RAC in 2019-20
• Alcohol for Sale: Fans can purchase alcohol at all RAC home matches this season. Alcohol will be available 60 minutes prior to the first match and through the sixth match of the night. State excise laws will be followed and the below policies will be among those enforced as part of a complete alcohol management plan:
• Free WiFi: Fans at the RAC can access complimentary WiFi (#ScarletWifi) when at the RAC this winter. No password is required to access the network.
• Mobile Parking Passes: Mobile parking passes for men's basketball and wrestling will be available for purchase up to 24 hours in advance of each home date. Once purchased, individuals will receive an email with a link to download their pass to their mobile device. The user will be instructed to present the mobile pass to the attendant upon arrival. What to Know
• In their last time out, the Scarlet Knights finished fifth at the Navy Classic on Nov. 23 in Annapolis, Md. Nicolas Aguilar (125) and Jordan Pagano (197) both claimed individual titles, as four RU wrestlers placed at the all-day tournament.
• Rutgers has picked up eight victories over ranked Intermat foes to begin the 2019-20 season, which includes a 4-0 record by Sammy Alvarez (133) in ranked matchups. Aguilar, Pagano and Gerard Angelo (149) also own victories over ranked opponents.
• Rutgers features six wrestlers in the latest individual rankings from FloWrestling – No. 12 Joseph Grello (174), No. 13 Pagano, No. 16 Aguilar, No. 16 Alvarez, No. 24 Angelo and No. 24 Christian Colucci (HWT).
• Michael Van Brill (157) and rookies JoJo Aragona (141) and Billy Janzer (184) are also ranked by TrackWrestling, coming in at No. 25, 31 and 27, respectively.

Scouting the Terps
• The Terrapins enter Saturday night's matchup with a 1-1 mark in dual action under first year head coach Alex Clemsen, who took over the program on April 23, 2019 after Kerry McCoy stepped down.
• In their last time out, six Terrapins placed at the Black Knight Invitational on Nov. 17 in West Point, New York. King Sandoval (133), Jahi Jones (157) and Phillip Spadafora (174) all finished third to help UMD to a fifth-place result at the tournament.
• In dual action, Maryland split at the Cavalier Duals to open its season, which included a 42-6 victory over Southern Virginia and a 34-6 loss to No. 24 Virginia.
• Maryland finished 2-12 last season, as Yousiff Hemida closed out his career with a sixth-place finish at the 2019 NCAA Championships, becoming a two-time NCAA All-American.

- There is a two alcoholic beverage limit, per person, per transaction. Selling of alcoholic beverages will cease at the end of the third (3rd) quarter of a football game.
- All Gourmet Dining management will be required to complete alcohol management training. Trained security staff will serve as alcohol monitors in venue and at points of sale.
