Men's T/F Concludes Weekend at Florida Relays and Rider 5-Way

4x400 relay breaks Rutgers outdoor record
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers men's track and field concluded its weekend with the Scarlet Knights splitting time at the Pepsi Florida Relays in Gainesville, Florida, and the Rider 5-Way in Lawrenceville, New Jersey, on Saturday.
At the Florida Relays, graduate student Chris Mirabelli finished second in the javelin to start things off on Thursday, while freshman A'Nan Bridgett placed third in the long jump on Friday.
The 4x400 relay team of Christopher Jenkins, Izaiah Brown, Sterling Pierce and Taj Burgess broke the Rutgers outdoor record in the event with a time of 3:04.27.
At the Rider 5-Way, three Scarlet Knights collected event titles, including juniors Patrick Warren (long jump) and Jarrod Brovero (pole vault), and senior Jordan Lorenzo (high jump).
Additionally, freshman Andrew Daniluk placed second in the 110m hurdles and classmate Will Berger finished third in the 3000m steeplechase.
FLORIDA RELAYS
TRACK EVENTS
In Saturday's events, the 4x400m team of Jenkins, Brown, Pierce and Burgess finished fifth with at time of 3:04.27, setting the RU record. The previous record of 3:04.67 was set at the 2018 Penn Relays by Jermaine Griffith, Boaz Madeus, Brown and Burgess.
The 4x100m relay clocked a time of 40.46, while the 4x800m relay posted a mark of 7:37.87.
FIELD EVENTS
On Saturday, sophomore Semaj Willis posted a mark of 2.01m (6' 7") in the high jump and classmate Malachi Davis recorded a jump of 15.09m (49' 6.25") in the triple jump.
In the discus, senior John Mooers posted a result of 48.28m (158' 5"). In the shot put, freshman Kamron Kobolak recorded a throw of 14.08m (46' 2.50").
Bridgett placed third in the long jump with a leap of 7.37m (24' 2.25") on Friday.
On Thursday, Mirabelli finished second in the javelin with a throw of 66.54m (218' 4").
RIDER 5-WAY
FIELD EVENTS
Lorenzo won the high jump with a leap of 2.02m (6' 7.25"). Brovero added a title in the pole vault with a mark of 4.25m (13' 11.25"), while Warren won the long jump with a mark of 7.05m (23' 1.75").
TRACK EVENTS
Daniluk placed second in the 110m hurdles with a time of 18.64. Berger added his own Top 3 finish in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 9:59.07 to come in third.
In the 800m, sophomore Eric Barnes finished sixth with a result of 1:55.17. Senior Dimitri Demos, sophomore Steven Steinberg McElroy, freshman Chris Smith and sophomore Ryan Downey all represented RU in the event.
Sophomore Patrick Walsh finished eighth in the 1500m with a time of 4:08.19. Sophomore Younass Barkouch followed with a time of 4:13.95, while junior Andrew Comito posted a mark of 4:14.15.
Walsh also finished eighth in the 3000m with at time of 9:07.72. Freshmen Cade Hindley, Cole Hindley, and Nicholas Hutchison also competed in the event.
Daniluk clocked a time of 24.02 in the 200m, while senior Edward Zaleck posted a time of 50.16 in the 400m.
The 4x400m team of Barnes, Sean Martinek, Jared Skalski, and Jason Schweizer finished fifth with a time of 3:28.06.
