Guirantes Named To Big Ten Honor Roll

Redshirt Sophomore Guard Averaged 19.0 Points During RU's 3-0 Week
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Redshirt sophomore Arella Guirantes was named to the Big Ten Honor Roll on Monday after helping Rutgers to a 3-0 week and clinching the No. 3 seed at the upcoming Big Ten Tournament behind 19.0 points, 5.4 rebounds and a 94 percent effort from the line.
The Bellport, New York native started off the week as one of two in double figures in RU's largest Big Ten victory of the year in a 73-53 victory over Wisconsin. Guirantes netted 13 points to go along with four rebounds.
Guirantes followed up with career-high 25 points on 10-of-17 shooting and a perfect 5-of-5 effort from the stripe in a 60-54 win over Minnesota in the regular season home finale. The win gave the Scarlet Knights the No. 3 seed and a double-bye into the Big Ten Tournament quarterfinals, as well as a 20-win regular season for the first time since 2014-15.
In the Scarlet Knights' third game of the week, Guirantes tied for a game-high 19 points as Rutgers overcame a 16-point first quarter deficit to rebound for a 10-point 66-56 win at Ohio State on Sunday. The redshirt sophomore connected at 9-of-10 from the free throw line and also hauled in a game-high seven rebounds. The win marked RU's 13th victory in Big Ten play marking the most wins in conference play since 2007-08.
On the year, Guirantes is averaging 11.8 points and 4.4 rebounds per game.
