Oniesha Clarke Takes 100m Title at Sam Howell Invitational

PRINCETON, N.J. – Senior Oniesha Clarke won the 100m title and placed fourth in the long jump to highlight the Rutgers women's track and field results at the Sam Howell Invitational on Saturday.
Altogether, the Scarlet Knights captured six top eight performances at the event.
Clarke posted a time of 11.85 for the top spot in the 100m and placed her name fourth among Big Ten competitors in the event.
The Waterbury, Connecticut native also placed fourth in the long jump at a distance of 5.61m (18' 5").
The 400m saw two Scarlet Knights among the top eight with junior Arianne Strunkey finishing in fifth place in 57.25, immediately followed by freshman Ajae Alvarez-Tyler in sixth in 57.32.
In addition to Clarke, RU had two additional Scarlet Knights with top eight finishes in the jumps.
Freshman Zia Barr set a new PR in the triple jump reaching a distance of 11.73m (38' 6"). The Teaneck, New Jersey product bested her previous personal best of 11.42m (37' 5.75") set at the Princeton Invitational in mid-February.
Meanwhile, sophomore Jacqueline Simmons reached 5.49m (18' 0.25") in the long jump for sixth place.
The Rutgers women's track and field team will be at home at the Bauer Track & Field Complex next weekend hosting the 2019 Metropolitan Outdoor Championships on Friday, April 12 and Saturday, April 13. The Scarlet Knight seniors will be recognized during Saturday's competition. Parking for the event is free by registering your vehicle here.
