PISCATAWAY – A school-record 145 Rutgers student-athletes were recognized by the Big Ten as Spring 2019 Academic All-Conference on Wednesday to elevate the Scarlet Knights' 2018-19 total to a record-setting 276 honorees, after 46 and 85 were selected in the winter and fall, respectively. Among the spring honorees are three four-time selections, 25 three-time honorees and 80 repeat selections.
"Our student-athletes continue to bring their best and set records in the classroom," said Director of Athletics
Pat Hobbs. "We are very proud of their commitment to academic and personal growth. It not only drives their many achievements at Rutgers, it will serve to enable lifelong success."
Graduate student Christopher Mirabelli, a three-time All-American and three-time Big Ten champion in the javelin who has qualified for the 2019 NCAA Championships, earned his fourth Big Ten All-Academic accolade. Men's lacrosse student-athletes Casey Rose and Adam Charalambides, a 2019 First Team All-Big Ten selection, also earned the fourth recognitions of their careers.
To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, students-athletes must have been enrolled full-time at the institution for a minimum of 12 months and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.
One hundred percent of eligible women's golf, 95 percent of eligible women's lacrosse, 87 percent of eligible rowing, 80 percent of eligible tennis and men's golf, 79 percent of eligible softball and 75 percent of eligible men's lacrosse student-athletes earned recognition.
