PISCATAWAY, N.J.  – Graduate student Chris Mirabelli and sophomore Taj Burgess of Rutgers men's track and field are set for the 2019 NCAA Outdoor Championships June 5-8 in Austin, Texas. Mirabelli advanced to the javelin finals for the fourth year of his career, while Burgess moved on to the 400m semifinal for the second straight season.
 
TIME UPDATES 
Due to weather concerns, event times have been moved up on Wednesday, June 5. The javelin is now set for 5:45 p.m. ET and will stream live on ESPN3. The 400m semifinal is now at 6:30 p.m. ET and will air live on ESPN2.

TUNE IN
The ESPN family of networks will broadcast all parts of the competition, as well as award ceremonies for all four days of competition. The running events will be broadcasted across ESPN and ESPN2, while all field events will have online broadcasts via ESPN3.

Mirabelli, a three-time All-American, recorded a throw of 66.88m (219' 5") to finish ninth at the East Preliminary to advance. The Lumberton, New Jersey, native claimed his third Big Ten title in the javelin this season with a throw of 71.83m, earning First Team All-Big Ten status for the third time.
 


Burgess clocked a time of 45.86 to finish eighth in the East and move on to Austin for the second straight year. The Carteret, New Jersey, native, earned Second Team All-American honors in the event in his rookie year last season. Burgess claimed a silver medal in the event at the 2018 Big Ten Championships, while adding a podium finish this season.
