PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Rutgers field hockey had two student-athletes selected for the U-21 Selection Camp and
Gianna Glatz and
Clayre Smith were chosen by USA Field Hockey. The two were selected following their participation in this year's Young Women's National Championship.Â
Glatz continues to be recognized by Team USA, as she also participated in the U-21 Junior National Camp and Young Women's National Championship last season, and toured Germany in April with the U-21 team. In her sophomore season 'On the Banks', she was named First Team All-Big Ten and First Team All-Region after posting a 13-6 record as RU's starting goalkeeper. The Medford, N.J. native held a 1.27 goals-against-average, a .785 save percentage and started in nine shutouts. Glatz led the Big Ten and was fifth in the nation in save percentage. A product of Shawnee HS, Glatz is majoring in Psychology.Â
Smyth recently concluded her first season at Rutgers, sitting out the season as a transfer from Penn State, where she played in eight games in 2017. The Honesdale, Pa. native, who is set to make her Scarlet Knights' debut this fall, is majoring in public policy.Â
The 2019Â U-21 and Women's Development Team Selection Camp will take this December at Spooky Nook Sports in Lancaster, Pa.
