PISCATAWAY, N.J – No. 9 Rutgers field hockey had three upperclassmen named by the conference as Preseason Big Ten Players to Watch. Redshirt senior
Austyn Cuneo and juniors
Gianna Glatz and
Katie Larmour were recognized with the accolade.
Â
A redshirt senior, Cuneo enters her third season 'On the Banks'. The team captain has started all 37 games, recording 11 goals and seven assists for 29 points. The Waterford Works, N.J. native is the team's leading returning scorer.
Â
Glatz earns the conference preseason honor for the second straight year. Last season, she validated the recognition with a 1.27 goals-against-average and .785 save percentage while starting in nine shutouts. That performance earned the Medford, N.J. native First Team All-Big Ten and First Team All-Region honors.
Â
Larmour also is recognized in the Big Ten's preseason list for the second time, also having earned the accolade entering her sophomore season in 2017. The Ireland native returns to action after taking an injury redshirt last season, previously starting 28 games, scoring seven goals and five and earning Second Team All-Region accolades as a freshman.
Â
All three have succeeded not only on the field, but in the classroom. The trio were all named Academic All-Big Ten last season, while Glatz and Larmour were both 2019 Big Ten Distinguished Scholars.
