Aronov Lifts Women's Soccer to Fourth Straight Win

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Freshman Julia Aronov used her first career goal to lift RV/17 Rutgers women's soccer to a 1-0 victory over Providence on Sunday night at Yurcak Field. Sophomore Meagan McClelland registered her third shutout of the season in net. It marked the Scarlet Knights' fourth straight win to start the year.

QUICK STATS
Aronov became the fifth different Scarlet Knight to add a goal this year. Freshman Allison Lynch contributed her first career assist in the win. McClelland posted her third shutout of the season and 11th of her career.

Providence's goalkeeper Shelby Hogan notched two saves in the loss, while Hannah McNulty added four shots to pace the Friars.

THE MATCH
The Scarlet Knights opened the first half outshooting the Friars, 8-4, and leading corners, 2-0. However, the match would remain 0-0 heading into the break.

Following halftime, the freshman pair of Aronov and Lynch teamed up to give RU a 1-0 lead in the 61st minute. After Lynch sent a pass into the box from midfield, Aronov capitalized when the keeper came out to make a play on the ball's hop. The rookie used her first touch on the deflection to find the back of the net.

In the 84th minute, McClelland made a big stop to secure the clean sheet and the victory. It marked her third save of the game.
