Scarlet Knights suffer first loss of season
RU moved to 7-1-1 overall and 1-1-0 in the Big Ten, while UW, who is receiving votes in the latest poll, moved to 6-2-1 overall and 2-0-0 in the league. The last three meetings between RU and UW have all gone into overtime with the results even at 1-1-1.

Sophomore goalkeeper Meagan McClelland registered a career-high nine saves in the game. Senior defender Amanda Visco recorded her first goal of the season, while classmate and midfielder Taylor Aylmer added her fourth assist of the year.
Wisconsin's keeper Jordyn Bloomer registered three saves in the game. Cameron Murtha and Dani Rhodes added the goals for UW.

THE MATCH
Although Rutgers opened the game with two shots on target in the first three minutes, Wisconsin's keeper would save both to keep it a 0-0 game.
In the ninth minute, the Badgers struck first with goal from Cameron Murtha. UW's Lauren Rice sent a cross to Murtha in the center of the box. Murtha took a shot 1-on-1 with the keeper, as the ball snuck just passed McClelland's fingertips.
McClelland would end the first half with seven saves, holding the Badgers' edge at 1-0.
Rutgers returned from halftime with new energy generating a shot and two corners in the first five minutes. On the second corner in the 50th minute, Alymer sent in a perfect corner, as Visco used a flawless header to balance the score, 1-1.

The teams entered a defensive battle as time expired in regulation, pushing the match into overtime.

In the end, a penalty kick in the 97th minute would be the deciding factor in the tight Big Ten showdown.
KNIGHT NOTES
- Rutgers suffered its first loss of the year at Yurcak Field and first Big Ten regular season home loss since the 2017 season.
- It marked the first loss in overtime for Rutgers since September of 2016. The Scarlet Knights hold a record of 12-1-16 in its last 29 OT matches. RU is 2-1-1 in matches that extend beyond the 90th minute this year.
- Rutgers is 1-1-1 in matches against teams ranked or receiving votes this year, including a win over No. 11 Tennessee and a 0-0, 2OT tie with RV Princeton.
- The last three meetings between RU and UW have all gone into overtime with the results even at 1-1-1. Rutgers won 1-0 in overtime in 2017, the teams played to a 0-0 double OT in 2018, and Wisconsin edged out a 2-1 overtime win today.
- Meagan McClelland notched a career-high nine saves. She had matched her previous total of five saves twice this season prior to today.
- Taylor Aylmer registered her fourth assist of the year and 11th of her career.
- Amanda Visco posted her first goal of the season and fifth of her career.
