PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The No. 24 Rutgers men's soccer team is back home to host Saint Peter's in nonconference action on Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
| RUTGERS QUICK KICKS |
- The Rutgers men's soccer team returned to the polls last week at No. 24 in the United Soccer Coaches Poll, No. 25 in the TopDrawerSoccer Poll and No. 28 in the College Soccer News Poll.
- The Scarlet Knights' unbeaten streak continued last week with a pair of 1-1 draws at Penn last Tuesday and in the Big Ten opener at Michigan in a weather shorten matchup on Saturday.
- RU's seven-game unbeaten streak is the longest season-opening streak since 1987.
- Both Rutgers goals last week came off PK's with Pablo Ávila connecting from the penalty spot against the Quakers and Jørgen Wisth Lie improving to 3-for-3 on penalty kicks in Saturday's contest with the Wolverines.
- On Saturday in the Big Ten opener, the Wolverines struck first in the third minute as Nebojsa Popovic finished the UM breakaway from six yards out. Rutgers, however tied the game in the 25th on Lie's PK after Michigan was called for a foul inside the 18 on a Scarlet Knight corner.
- Saturday's contest endured a 44-minute delay in the 71st minute due to lightning and after the teams returned to the field to resume play, weather was still detected in the area and the game was called a 1-1 draw in the 72nd minute.
- The Scarlet Knights are currently 4-for-4 on PK's, the most converted penalty kicks from records dating back to 2006.
- RU is one of 18 schools among the 206 Division I teams that sponsor the sport without a loss this season.
- Lie's PK was his third goal of the 2019 and joins fellow rookie Jackson Temple in leading the Scarlet Knights in scoring.
- Freshman goalkeeper Oren Asher is currently second in the Big Ten in save percentage (.839) and goals against average (0.81).
