No. 19 Field Hockey Travels to No. 4 UConn and No. 17 St. Joe’s

PISCATAWAY, N.J – No. 19 Rutgers field hockey hits the road for the first time this season with a pair of games this weekend at ranked foes. The Scarlet Knights first take on No. 4 UConn on Friday at 6 p.m. in a rematch of last year's NCAA Tournament matchup. Then on Sunday, the team is at No. 17 St. Joe's at 1 p.m.

Rutgers Season Stats | Rutgers Game Notes
Rutgers opened the season with an undefeated weekend, defeating No. 24 Maine 3-0 and Ball State 4-1. The team was paced by Austyn Cuneo, who scored three goals and added two points on the weekend. She was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week and NFHCA Honorable Mention after tying for the conference lead in goals and setting the mark in points.
Katie Larmour also contributed two goals in the win over Ball State, while Kerrie Burns (game-winner versus Maine) and Clayre Smith also tallied in the opening set of games. In goal, Gianna Glatz posted a .833 save percentage and 0.58 goals-against-average.
The road trip is the start of three straight games against ranked foes. Four of the team's first five games will come against currently ranked opponents.

The fourth-ranked Huskies earned two ranked victories on the opening win, a 4-1 win over No. 15 Northwestern and a 3-2 victory over No. 21 Stanford. Antonia Tiedtke was named BIG EAST and NFHCA Defensive Player of the Week for her defensive efforts, while Marie Auer and Svea Boker each scored two goals.
The matchup is a rematch of the First Round of last year's NCAA Tournament. All-time, UConn leads the series between the two former conference rivals 29-2-1.
St. Joe's Season Stats | St. Joe's Notes
St. Joe's opened its season last weekend with a 9-1 win over Hofstra. The Hawks were led by a pair of hat tricks from Kathrin Bentz and Tonya Botherway, who each earned weekly conference awards from the A-10.
Rutgers leads the all-time series against the Hawks 19-8, its most victories against any one opponent. Last season, RU defeated the eventual Atlantic-10 champions 3-2 on a game-winning goal with 10 minutes remaining. Overall, Rutgers has won five of the past seven matchups.
