The Scarlet Knights open 2020 with a home match against Army and away contest at Drexel
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers tennis is set to open its 2020 campaign this Friday, Jan. 24, hosting Army for a 12:30 p.m. match at the East Brunswick Racquet Club. The contest kicks off a slate that features a balance of 11 home and 11 road matches for the Scarlet Knights.
Live video and results of home events will be available throughout the 2020 season.
Rutgers tennis head coach Hilary Ritchie caught up with Dom Savino for the Inside Rutgers Athletics Podcast, where they preview the 2020 season.
The Scarlet Knights continue their opening weekend with a trip to Drexel on Saturday, Jan. 25. Match time is set for 6 p.m. at Penn's Hecht Tennis Center. Directions to the facility can be found here.

| RUTGERS QUICK HITS |
- Rutgers returns seven of eight Scarlet Knights from its 2019 roster and will be led by seniors Kat Muzik and Jaci Cochrane.
- RU welcomes sophomore Sydney Jones to the lineup, a 5-star recruit out of Texas who joins as a transfer from Texas Tech.
- This past fall, five Scarlet Knights qualified for the main singles draw at the ITA Northeast Regional Championships, the most in recent years. Four of which advanced to the round of 64 in singles, as Jones led the way with an appearance in the round of 32.
- In Spring 2019, Rutgers concluded the year in the top 10 final regional rankings, marking its first time in the rankings since 2013-14. Additionally, Muzik and then-freshman Tess Fisher were ranked No. 7 in the regional doubles rankings.
- Head Coach Hilary Ritchie enters her fourth season at the helm of the program and 10th year "On the Banks", following a 2019 season that saw RU earn its most victories in a season since joining the Big Ten.
- Along with Assistant Coach Catarina Lindqvist-Ryan, the Scarlet Knights added Kate Fahey to the coaching staff as a volunteer assistant. Fahey, a three-time ITA All-American, three-time Big Ten Champion at Michigan, and two-time Big Ten Athlete of the Year, brings knowledge and experience to Rutgers.
