PHILADELPHIA, PA. –  Senior
Erin McLachlan broke the school record on beam for Rutgers gymnastics in a team road win at Penn on Sunday. McLachlan's record-setting 9.950 anchored the program's second highest event total ever on beam at 49.125.
Â
As a team, Rutgers registered a193.575 total on the day to top Penn's score of 190.875 in the dual meet.Â
"I am really proud of how the team competed today. It's tough competing twice in a weekend. It really does test the endurance of a team," said Head Coach
Umme Salim-Beasley. "They all competed well. Unfortunately, we lost
Mia Betancourt during her leadoff floor routine. The team had to recompose themselves after seeing a teammate injure themselves. It shook them a little bit.Â
"They really showed their strength and determination finishing up on beam. They did some of the best routines we have seen all year. It was a season high for the beam lineup, as well as a new school record for
Erin McLachlan."
Â
 Â
Rutgers entered its first rotation with power and strength on bars, being led by senior
Shannon Farrell with a 9.750. Sophomore
Abigail Karolewski's routine notched her a 9.725 to follow. Farrell and Karolewski finished second and third in the event, respectively, to help push RU to a 48.100.
Â
The team's energy continued to vault as five Scarlet Knights posted a score of 9.700 or higher. Freshmen
Hannah Joyner and
Jordyn Duffield posted personal-bests to claim the top two spots in the event. Joyner bested her mark to 9.800, while Duffield reached a 9.775.

Toni Williams (9.725) and
Belle Huang (9.700), and senior
Kaitlyn Hall (9.700) rounded out the 9.700 performances to give the team a 48.700 mark in the event.
Â
Battling through a challenging floor outing, Huang helped recompose the team by claiming the event title, eclipsing 9.800 for the fourth straight meet with a 9.825. Joyner placed third in the event with a 9.675 for her routine. Overall, the team recorded a 47.925 on floor.Â
Â
