Geo Baker Named to Cousy Award Watch List

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers men's basketball point guard Geo Baker was named to the Watch List for the 2021 Bob Cousy Award, it was announced Monday. Baker was one of 20 candidates recognized for the award that honors the top point guard in Division I.
Baker has excelled in three seasons 'On the Banks'. Through 92 career games, he has averaged 11.3 points and 3.4 assists. A two-time Big Ten All-Academic, the 6-4 senior has 117 career steals with a 3.4 assist-to-turnover ratio.
Last season, he was named Third Team All-Big Ten and First Team All-Met after posting 10.9 points and leading the team with 98 assists and 31 steals. While ranking in the top-ten in the conference in assists, steals and assist-to-turnover ratio, Baker became the 44th player in Rutgers history to reach the 1,000-career point milestone.
Heading into this season, Baker was ranked as the No. 9 returning player in the nation by NCAA.com's Andy Katz. The product of Derry, N.H. was also tabbed as a preseason First Team All-Big Ten selection by Jon Rothstein.
"Since 2004, the Hall of Fame has had the honor of bestowing the Bob Cousy Award on the best point guards in the collegiate game," said John L. Doleva, President and CEO of the Basketball Hall of Fame. "The list is comprised of many outstanding student-athletes and we know the fans are very excited to see them take the floor. Starting Five Fan Voting presented by Dell Technologies will allow fans to support their favorite players throughout the season and eventually play a part in helping us to select our winner.
