No. 23/24 Men's Basketball Hosts Three Games This Week

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – No. 23/24 Rutgers men's basketball unveiled three additional non-conference games today as part of the schedule for the highly anticipated 2020-21 season. The Scarlet Knights will open the season by hosting with three games next week at The RAC, starting on Wednesday night.

Rutgers will open the season on Wednesday, November 25 at 7 p.m. against Sacred Heart. The game will be streamed on BTN Plus. The Scarlet Knights have won all three matchups in the lifetime series between the programs, with those games coming between 2011 and 2014.

On Friday, November 27, the Scarlet Knights will host in-state foe Fairleigh Dickinson as part of the New Jersey Hoop Group Classic. Tip-off is at 7 p.m. with Big Ten Network to televise the game nationwide.  Rutgers holds a 14-2 advantage in the all-time series between the two foes, including a 3-0 mark under head coach Steve Pikiell

Then on Sunday, November 29, RU battles Hofstra in NJ Hoop Group Classic action. The game against the defending CAA conference champions will tip off at 4 p.m. on Sunday and air on Big Ten Network. This will be the fifth lifetime matchup between the two schools, and first meeting since 2000.

With the announcement of these three games, the Scarlet Knights have locked in 24 games for this season. Previously, the Big Ten unveiled this year's twenty game slate, while Syracuse was revealed as this year's opponent in the annual ACC-Big Ten Challenge. For this season, the NCAA has imposed a maximum allotment of 27 games, with future details and potential addition to the non-conference schedule subject to change.

Rutgers welcomes back 11 letterwinners from last season and is buoyed by the addition of four new freshmen. Last season, RU posted its first winning season in 14 years, secured the most home regular season wins in the nation (18), and also set a program record for home victories. The Scarlet Knights tied for fifth in the Big Ten Conference. As a result, RU earned its first opening round bye in a conference tournament in 25 years, since the 1995 Atlantic 10 Championship, and was poised to secure its first NCAA Tournament berth since 1991.

Due to COVID-19 safety protocols, there will be no men's and women's basketball general admission single game or season ticket sales to home games at this time.
