Freshman Sofia Chichaikina Breaks 14-Year Old 800 Free School Record With Lead Off in 800 Free Relay
IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Rutgers women's swimming & diving team opened up the 2020 Big Ten Championships on Wednesday evening with the 200 medley and 800 free relays. On the lead off leg of the 800 free relay freshman Sofia Chichaikina reset the school 200 free record.
On Thursday, the Scarlet Knights will race in the 500 free, 200 IM, 50 free and 400 medley relay in addition to diving beginning with 1m competition. Preliminaries begin at noon (ET) with finals underway at 7:30 p.m.

| FROM THE POOL DECK |
- The 200 medley relay team of Terka Grusova, Aleksandra Ignatova, Kasja Dymek and Elinah Phillip placed 10th with a season-best time of 1:39.97.
- The Scarlet Knights placed 11th in the 800 free relay with Sofia Chichaikina, Giulia Ghidini, Alexandra Fabugais-Inaba and Francesca Bertotto posting a time of 7:16.04.

- On the lead off leg of the 800 free relay, Sofia Chichaikina broke the Rutgers 200 free record clocking in at 1:47.18 resetting the mark of 1:47.37 by US National Team member Kelly Harrigan in 2006.
- Freshman Elinah Phillip registered the fifth fastest 50 free split in the meet of 22.34 during the 200 medley relay.
