IOWA CITY, Iowa – Another Rutgers record fell on day two of the Big Ten Women's Swimming & Diving Championships as freshman
Elinah Phillip captured the fastest 50 freestyle time in school history in a sixth place podium finish on Thursday evening.

- Freshman Elinah Phillip qualified for the 50 free A finals after collecting a time of 22.48 in the prelims with the second fastest time in the Rutgers record books. The freshman Scarlet Knight then went on to take sixth overall in the finals with a new school record of 22.41.
- Classmate Sofia Chichaikina qualified for B finals with personal best of 22.49.
- The 400 medley relay squad of sophomore Terka Grusova, freshman Aleksandra Ignatova and sophomore Kasja Dymek and Chichaikina put together a season best of 3:37.26 and was .13 seconds off the school record.
- In 1m diving competition, sophomore Jenna Douglass scored 222.85 followed by freshman Sam Blanc with a 220.70.Â
- Elinah Phillip's record setting 50 free was the second Rutgers record reset at the 2020 Big Ten Championships. Fellow freshman Sofia Chichaikina set a new 200 free Scarlet Knight bench mark with her lead off leg of the 800 free relay on Wednesday evening.
- Phillip surpassed the previous 50 free record of 22.45 set by Madison Kennedy in 2007.
- All together the Scarlet Knights posted 12 PRs on day two competition.
- In the 400 medley relay, Aleksandra Ignatova set a personal record in the 100 breast and Kasja Dymek notched her best 100 fly time. Terka Grusova, meanwhile, captured the fourth fastest 100 back split (52.42).
- Junior Delaney Carey and sophomore Simone Lusby both set personal bests in the 200 IM prelims as did senior Nadia Nabhan and sophomore Lizzie Zeller in the 500 free.
- Six Scarlet Knights set new top times in the 50 free. In addition to Phillip and Chichaikina's times, PRs were established by Giulia Ghidini, Eleonora Trentin, Erin Murphy and Katelyn McCullough.Â

On Friday, the Scarlet Knights will race in the 100 fly, 400 IM, 200 free, 100 breast and 200 free relay in addition to diving in 3m competition. Preliminaries begin at noon (ET) with finals underway at 7:30 p.m.
