EAST BRUNSWICK, N.J.Ā ā Rutgers tennis dropped a 6-1 match against Nebraska on Wednesday, Feb. 26 at the East Brunswick Racquet Club.

The Scarlet Knights fought in doubles play, but were unable to clinch the point.

JuniorĀ Maya JacobsĀ and sophomoreĀ Kristiana ZahareĀ battledĀ Hayley HaakenstadĀ andĀ Kristina NovakĀ in the No. 1 spot which ended 6-4.

In the No. 3 spot, seniorĀ Jaci CochraneĀ and sophomoreĀ Sydney JonesĀ fell 6-3 toĀ ChloeĀ KuckelmanĀ andĀ Ellie Kuckelman.

In singles play, sophomoreĀ Tess FisherĀ took Novak into a third set in the No. 2 spot. After splitting the first two sets 2-6, 6-7 (7-4), Novak took the third set 10-2.

Claiming the lone team point for Rutgers in the No. 6 spot, Zahare also took her opponent, Haakenstad, into a third set and came out on top 6-7 (4-7), 7-6 (7-2), 10-8.

Rutgers tennis will hit the road this Sunday, Mar. 1 for the first of four straight away matches. The Scarlet Knights will take on the University of Delaware at 5:30 p.m. at the Delcastle Tennis Center.
