Men’s Golf Heads to South Carolina for Colleton River Collegiate

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers men's golf makes its return to the links at the Eighth Annual Colleton River Collegiate on Monday and Tuesday in Bluffton, South Carolina. The 54-hole tournament, hosted by Michigan State, will be played on the Pete Dye Course at the Colleton River Club, a par-72, 7,167 yard venue.

Rutgers finished fifth at the rained-shortened TPC Dorado Beach Collegiate from Feb. 23-24 in Puerto Rico. The Scarlet Knights fired off a five-under-par 283 in the first and only round of the tournament. Senior Tony Jiang tied for fifth to lead RU with a four-under-par 68 in his first round, while junior Christopher Gotterup tied for 10th with his three-under-par 69.
Gotterup in the National Spotlight
Gotterup heads into the 2020 spring season as one of the top individuals in the country. The Little Silver, New Jersey, native is currently the top ranked golfer in the Big Ten and No. 16 in the country with a 70.05 adjusted scoring average. Gotterup was most recently named in the initial 2020 Arnold Palmer Cup Ranking and is the reigning MGA & NJSGA Amateur Player of the Year.
Gotterup closed out the 2019 fall season with three consecutive Top 5 finishes, including an individual title at the 2019 Fighting Irish Classic with a 14-under-par 199 (68-63-68). The junior was named Co-Ben Hogan National Golfer of the Month for October for his impressive stretch.
Jiang moves into Top 250
With his four-under-par 68 in his last time out, Jiang is currently No. 207 in the country with his 71.80 adjusted scoring average. Jiang owns eight rounds of under-par golf during the stroke play season, which included a season-low round of 65 at the Old Town Collegiate back in September.
