
Isabella Mancini and Clayre Smith Named National Scholars of Distinction

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers field hockey student-athletes Isabella Mancini and Clayre Smith were named Division I Scholars of Distinction, it was announced by the NFHCA on Monday. The Division I Scholars of Distinction program recognizes student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative grade-point average of 3.9 or higher through the first semester of the 2019-20 academic year.
A freshman from Medford, N.J., Mancini recorded a 3.91 GPA through the fall semester. Smith, a redshirt sophomore from Honesdale, P.A., holds a 3.95 cumulative GPA following a perfect 4.0 GPA in the fall semester. She was also named Academic All-Big Ten last season.
Both were recently named to the National Academic Squad, as the program had 17 total student-athletes recognized as members by the NFHCA. Rutgers was a recipient of the NFHCA's National Academic Team award after posting a team grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.
