Gymnastics Wins Tri-Meet with a 195.625

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. –  Rutgers gymnastics won Friday's tri-meet at the College Ave Gym, posting a score of 195.625. The Scarlet Knights claimed the event title in all four events, as well as numerous top three finishes.

Cornell followed in second with a 190.950, while Southern Connecticut State finished third with a 190.300.
 
VAULT
Rutgers vaulted into the meet with the Scarlet Knights taking the top three spots in the event. Senior Kaitlyn Hall paced the lineup with a first-place mark of 9.850. Junior Belle Huang followed with a 9.825 for second, while freshman Hannah Joyner posted a 9.800 for third. Junior Toni Williams (9.750) and freshman Jenna Ferguson (9.725) rounded out the team score of 48.950.
 
BARS
The Scarlet Knights registered a few career-highs on bars, as Joyner led the way in first place with a personal-best 9.900. Junior Emily Drauss notched a career-high of her own with a 9.825, finishing third. Hall (9.725), sophomore Abigail Karolewski (9.725), and Huang (9.700) all contributed to the team mark of 48.875.
 
BEAM
Moving to beam, senior Erin McLachlan claimed first with a 9.850. Huang finished second with a score of 9.775. Ferguson (9.725) and Joyner (9.725) added to the Scarlet Knights' mark of 48.750 on beam.
 
FLOOR
The night came to a close on floor with Huang posting a meet-best 9.850. Four other Scarlet Knights – freshman Jordyn Duffield, Ferguson, Joyner, and Williams all tied for second with 9.800s each. As a team, RU put up a 49.050 in the event.
 
ALL-AROUND
Joyner won the all-around with a mark of 39.225, while Huang placed second with a 39.150.
 
KNIGHT NOTES
  • Hannah Joyner has reached 9.9 on two events this year, including beam six times and bars for the first time tonight.
  • Kaitlyn Hall led all competitors on vault for the fourth time this season, including three Big Ten meets.
 
UP NEXT
Rutgers heads to New Hampshire for its final regular season away meet on Sunday, March 8. The quad meet will consist of host UNH, No. 15 Auburn, and Central Michigan. Competition will begin at 1 p.m. ET.
