Scarlet Knights secure titles in the men’s long jump and distance medley relay, and combined for eight top-eight finishes
BOSTON – Rutgers men's and women's track and field closed out competition at the 2020 IC4A and ECAC Indoor Championships on Sunday, March 8 at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center.
The Scarlet Knights first got on the scoreboard on Saturday with podium finishes from junior Qayyim Ali and senior Patrick Warren in the long jump. Ali was victorious in the event with a leap of 7.33m, while Warren took sixth with a distance of 6.87m.
The distance medley relay team of senior Cole Pschunder, sophomore Boaz Madeus, senior Jason Schweizer and junior Patrick Walsh added the second event title of the weekend with their winning time of 9:54.97.
Rutgers took second in the 4x800 meter relay with the team of seniors Sean Martinek and Jared Skalski, junior Eric Barnes and Billy Hill clocking a time of 7:31.12. The time comes in as the second fastest time in the NCAA this indoor season.
Sophomore Nadale Buntin placed eighth in the 400 meter with a time of 48.24.
Sophomore Reanda Richards scored on the women's side, recording a second-place finish in the 500 meter, with a time of 1:11.73. Sophomore Jasmine Van Note placed third in the shot put with a throw of 14.58m (47' 10") to add to the scoring total for the women's team.
The women's distance medley team finished second with sophomore Kayla Rosario, junior Kayla Jackson, sophomore Mackenzie Prezume and junior Kiera Nealon clocking a time of 11:48.11.
A trio of Scarlet Knights will advance to the 2020 Indoor NCAA Championships on Friday, March 13 and Saturday, March 14 in Albuquerque, N.M. Juniors Taj Burgess and Perry Christie will represent the men's team in the 400-meter dash and high jump, respective. ON the women's side, junior Courteney Campbell will compete in the high jump.
