Paul Mulcahy: Headband Highlights
Jul 16 | Men's Basketball
Born and bred in New Jersey, Paul Mulcahy is an up-and-comer for the Scarlet Knights. Known for his own personal brand of ‘Headband Highlights’, the floor general delights onlookers with his dynamic passing ability.

A product of Bayonne, N.J., Mulcahy arrived at Rutgers after an elite NJ high school career Gill St. Bernard's, where he was an ESPN four-star prospect averaging 18.1 points, 10.2 rebounds and 10.1 assists as a senior. He was the first New Jersey High School boys’ basketball player to average a triple-double in 26 years. A highly-touted recruit, he stayed home to make an impact at his state university.

The pass-first point guard transitioned well to the collegiate game with his distributor mentality. As a true freshmen, Mulcahy had 61 assists, second on the team, and held an assist to turnover ratio of 2.17 that ranked sixth compared to Big Ten qualified players. Utilizing a high basketball IQ, he also shot 54 percent from the field, leading Rutgers' guards.

The up-and-comer is just as impactful in the local community as he is on the court. His integrity and character is valued within the Rutgers' locker room. Most recently, he made an impact with the founding of the Grateful4 Foundation. During uneasy times, Mulcahy encouraged others to focus on things to be grateful for and the positive side of life. With a successful freshman season in the books, Mulcahy will continue to enhance the Rutgers program for years to come.
