Geo Baker: Rising Star
Jul 21 | Men's Basketball
Geo Baker came to Rutgers as an underrated recruit from Derry, New Hampshire. Three years later, Baker is a bona fide superstar for the Scarlet Knights.

Baker burst onto the scene as a freshman. He averaged 10.8 points and 2.2 rebounds per game with 57 assists and 35 steals, and was named. Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association Rookie of the Year. He replicated his excellence as a sophomore, earning Honorable Mention All-Big Ten honors and was a Third Team All-Met honoree.

As a junior, Baker averaged 10.9 points per game and had team-highs in assists (98) and steals (31) while shooting 39.9 percent from the field and 77.2 percent from the free throw line
He was named Third Team All-Big Ten, highest all-conference accolade earned by a Scarlet Knight since joining the league. He was the first Scarlet Knight since Quincy Douby to be named First Team All-Met.

Not only does his play do the talking on the court, but off of it, Baker is a tremendous ambassador of the Block R. Since the global pandemic ended last season prematurely, he has taken the time to make a genuine impact in the community.
He started stepback challenge, connecting virtually with fans who attempted to replicated his signature shot. He also addressed racial issues head on as a vocal voice for positive change. He will be a member of the Big Ten's Anti-Hate and Anti-Racism Coalition. He continues to be a shining star for the program and an inspiration for future generations of Rutgers fans.

I loved it. He said his legs felt good. A couple days off, coach David VanDyke has been driving him hard. He has that. We're excited about his growth. He didn't have that as a freshman. He's just getting better and better in a lot of areas. I think all of these guys have gotten better and better. Excited to go to the rim on a little bit of a mission. It's a good thing. Timely, too.Head Coach Steve Pikiell on the dunk against Indiana
"This is just obscene."

Fun fact: @Geo_Baker_1 shot 12/20 (60%) on the season in what has been defined as “clutch moments.” (H/T Michael Rego)
[Note: A clutch moment is deemed as a 2 possession game with under 2 minutes + all of OT]
