"Before every game, we sign a white board that says 28 strong, and we stayed true to that today. Every player went out and gave everything they had. It's amazing that we were able to find the back of the net five times today," said sophomore forward Allison Lowrey.
Sophomore midfielder Becci Fluchel led the team with a career-high two goals. Senior forward Amirah Ali, sophomore forward Allison Lowrey and senior midfielder Frankie Tagliaferri added a goal each. Freshman forward Riley Tiernan contributed two assists, while Tagliaferri added one in the win.
Defensively, RU held UMD to only five shots on goal, as senior goalkeeper Meagan McClelland notched three saves.
Rutgers opened the match strong on the attack with numerous chances. Ali would get the offense rolling with a goal in the ninth minute, as Tiernan assisted for an early 1-0 advantage.
