PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Coming off its first NCAA Tournament victory in program history, Rutgers women's lacrosse unveiled its schedule for the 2022 season. The 17-game slate features 10 home dates – the most for the Scarlet Knights since the 2014 campaign – six Big Ten Conference matchups and first-time meetings with West Coast opponents Arizona State and San Diego State.
RU will also host the 2022 Big Ten Women's Lacrosse Tournament from May 6-8 in Piscataway for the first time since its inaugural Big Ten season.
Under Lehman's guidance, Rutgers produced one of the best seasons in program history, which included its first-ever NCAA postseason win, its second-ever appearance at the NCAA Tournament and wins over six ranked opponents – a school record. The Scarlet Knights picked up their first-ever wins over Big Ten Conference foes Johns Hopkins, Maryland, and Penn State and spent the final 11 weeks ranked in the coaches poll, with its No. 14 ranking its highest since the 2010 campaign.
Rutgers returns 10 starters from last year's NCAA Tournament team, which includes All-Americans Meghan Ball and Cassidy Spilis, All-Big Ten standout Taralyn Naslonski and all-region selection Marin Hartshorn. The Scarlet Knights also welcome A-10 Offensive Player of the Year Stephanie Kelly, who finished as the conference leader in points (91) and assists (46) last spring at St. Joseph's.
Rutgers opens its season on Feb. 12 at Delaware before its faces Army for its home opener on Feb. 16. The Scarlet Knights also travel to Georgetown (Feb. 19) before they close the month with a home game against Lehigh on Feb. 26.
