PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers field hockey had two student-athletes named All-Americans on Tuesday by the NFHCA.
Gianna Glatz was recognized as a First Team All-American and
Katie Larmour was named a Second Team All-American.
Glatz earns her third career All-American recognition and marks the second straight season that she was named a First Team All-American. She was one of just two goalkeepers on the First Team. She is the first player in Rutgers' history to be twice named a First Team All-American and the first three-time All-American for RU since Andschana Mendes in 1999-2001.
Larmour earned All-American recognition for the second straight year after being named First Team All-American last season. It marked the third straight season that RU had multiple All-Americans. Prior to 2019, there had not been multiple Scarlet Knights named All-Americans in the same season since 1986.
Glatz was previously named First Team All-Region, First Team All-Big Ten and was the Big Ten Co-Player of the Year. She set statistical bests with a 0.93 goals-against-average and .796 save percentage this season. Glatz was also named to the NFHCA Senior Team, recognizing her overall career. She started 90 games over five years in goal, playing nearly 5700 minutes in the goal and posting a 1.40 goals-against-average (fourth all-time at RU). The Medford, N.J. native had a lifetime .749 save percentage with 22 shutouts while posting a career record of 57-33.
Larmour was previously named First Team All-Region and First Team All-Big Ten. The Belfast, Northern Ireland native scored one goal and added five assists during the 2021 campaign. The midfielder was named to the NFHCA Senior Team in recognition of her six years 'On the Banks', during which time she played in 86 career games, 83 of them start and posted 17 goals (six game-winning goals) and 18 assists for 52 career points.Â
The duo helped RU to a historic season. The Scarlet Knights set program records for wins, ranked wins, top-10 wins and Big Ten wins. Rutgers won the Big Ten Tournament championship, the first ever Big Ten tournament championship in Rutgers' athletics history. RU was ranked No. 1 and was the number one overall seed heading into the NCAA Tournament, where the Scarlet Knights won their first NCAA Tournament game since 1986 to advance to the Elite Eight.Â
