Coach Stringer's defense leads the Big Ten with 56.9 points allowed per contest.
Rutgers defeated No. 21/20 Northwestern on the road Thursday evening, 70-54, for its first-ever victory in Evanston and its first ranked road win since December 2018. The Scarlet Knights had four players score 14 or more points, the seventh time this season with four or more in double-digits. Quarters one through three saw Rutgers up one, tied, then up three before cementing the statement win and outscoring the Wildcats 23-10 in the fourth quarter.
On Sunday, RU topped Purdue on the road, 75-57, shooting 52 percent from the floor and forcing 13 second-half turnovers to pull away with a 41-26 advantage over the final 20 minutes.
The two road wins upped the Scarlet Knights' NET Ranking to No. 12 in the nation. The NET Rankings are the new selection guide for at-large bids to the NCAA Tournament valuing offensive and defensive efficiency alongside results-oriented data.
