Gymnastics Set for Midweek Meet at Maryland

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers gymnastics is set for a midweek meet at Maryland on Wednesday, March 3. Competition is set to begin at 5 pm ET on Big Ten Network+.

- Rutgers posted numerous individual career and season highs to register a 195.225 team score at the Big Five Meet on Saturday, eclipsing 195 for the second straight meet.
- Senior Belle Huang used multiple season-high marks to finish as the runner up for the all-around title, including a season-best 9.9 on beam to place third in the event.
- Sophomore Hannah Joyner finished third in the all-around, posting a mark of 39.200
- Three Scarlet Knights posted career bests on vault, including sophomore Jenna Ferguson with a 9.775, freshman Emily Leese with a 9.725, and freshman Avery Balser with a 9.700.
- Rookie Avery Balser led the team with a career-high 9.850 on bars as well.
- Overall, RU recorded at total of eight individual season high marks at the conference meet, including the four career-best performances. Junior Abigail Karolewksi added a season-high 9.825 bars, just shy of her career best, while Huang added season bests on bars, beam and all-around to boost the team score.
- Wednesday's meet will mark the third meeting between the RU and UMD this 2021 season, as the Scarlet Knights hosted the Terrapins on Jan. 23 and 30. The remaining two meets of the season will count as nonconference meets in the overall record.
