Shane Knobloch Named Big Ten Freshman of the Week

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - For the second straight week to open the season, men's lacrosse midfielder Shane Knobloch was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week. The Moorestown, N.J. native excelled in his second collegiate game, scoring four goals and posting his first career assist for five points in a win at No. 6 Ohio State.
The Morestown HS product also scooped four ground balls and caused a turnover. He was the first RU freshman to score four goals since Kieran Mullins did so in 2017.
Knobloch is tied for third nationally among freshmen with 3.0 goals per game. He is sixth nationally among freshmen with 3.5 points per game and ranks first among all freshman midfielders.
Rutgers started the season with two top-10 wins, downing No. 6 Penn State and No. 6 Ohio State. The team is back in action on Saturday to host Michigan (noon, BTN Plus).
