No. 21 Women's Soccer Captures Sixth Win of the Season on Senior Day

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - No. 21 Rutgers women's soccer (6-1-1 , 6-1-1 Big Ten) claimed a 1-0 shutout of Minnesota (3-3-2, 3-3-1 Big Ten) on Sunday's Senior Day at Yurcak Filed. Freshman Julianne Leskauskas recorded the first goal of her career to lift the Scarlet Knights to victory, while classmate Sara Brocious added the assist.
In net, junior goalkeeper Meagan McClelleand recorded two saves for RU's third clean sheet of the year, as UM was held to seven shots overall in the contest.
Rutgers honored graduating senior Aolani Colon with a pre-game ceremony.
The Scarlet Knights and Golden Gophers played through a balanced first half with a 0-0 tie on the scoreboard, a shot apiece for both sides and a slim 3-2 edge in corner kicks for Minnesota.
Rutgers would break through just minutes into the second stanza with a stunning goal from Leskaukas, putting the Scarlet Knights in the lead 1-0. Brocious used a short pass to Leskaukas, who then took a shot from over 20 yards out, finding the back of the net in the 47th minute.
The Gophers found a few shots down the stretch, but the Scarlet Knights kept them off target. McClelland backed up the defense, reeling in two saves to secure the victory.
Rutgers is back on the road with trips to Nebraska on March 25 and Wisconsin on March 28.
