ANN ARBOR, Mich. - No. 10 Rutgers field hockey completed a two-game weekend series at No. 6 Michigan Sunday at Phyllis Ocker Field with a 1-0 loss to the Wolverines. Kate Burney scored the lone goal of the game 26 minutes into the contest for the Wolverines, the only tally of the day.Â
Rutgers battled the No. 6 team to the wire on the road for the second straight meeting. RU outshot the Wolverines 9-6 and had a 6-5 advantage in corners. The Scarlet Knights made a late push for the equalizer, but were just never able to find the back of the net.Â
Through seven games, the Scarlet Knights defense has surrendered just four goals in the field of play. The Scarlet Knights sit at 5-3 overall.Â
Next up, the Scarlet Knights will return home to host Penn State. The games against the Nittany Lions are Friday at 1 pm and Sunday at noon. Both games will stream on BTN Plus.Â
