No. 14 Women’s Lacrosse Loses to No. 21 Michigan, 12-9

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – No. 14 Rutgers women's lacrosse (3-3) lost to No. 21 Michigan (2-3), 12-9, on Sunday afternoon in Ann Arbor. Down four goals after the break, the Scarlet Knights got to within one midway through the second half before the Wolverines pulled away for the win. Senior Taralyn Naslonski, junior Marin Hartshorn and freshman Ashley Moynahan added multiple goals, as Naslonski tallied a team-high four points in the loss.
Michigan used a 22-17 advantage on clears and forced the Scarlet Knights into 20 turnovers to secure the series sweep, as UM also defeated RU 12-11 in overtime on Friday. Sophomore goalkeeper Alonna Gliksman recorded eight saves, including five in the first half, while senior Dana Pena added a team-high three caused turnovers.
First Half
Naslonski registered the first goal of the game for RU at the 19:15 mark in the first half, as she took a pass from Hartshorn to tie the game at 1-1. Naslonski found Moynahan for Rutgers' next goal, while Hartshorn stopped a 3-0 UM scoring run off the pass from Lauren Ellis as the Scarlet Knights entered the locker room trailing 6-3.
Second Half
After Michigan went up 8-4 at the 24:20 mark in the second half, Rutgers tallied a 3-0 scoring run to get within one. Hartshorn netted an unassisted goal, Naslonski added her second score of the day while Moynahan rocketed an attempt past Michigan's goalkeeper to make it just an 8-7 game with 16 minutes left to play. However, the Wolverines closed with 4-2 scoring run to earn the victory.
