Joyner Records School Record on Beam

COLUMBUS, OHIO – Sophomore Hannah Joyner recorded a school record on beam to highlight Rutgers gymnastics' outing at a quad meet hosted by Ohio State. The Scarlet Knights recorded several career highs to post a 194.800 team score. The meet featured No. 21 Ohio State, Penn State and Michigan for a Sunday afternoon competition in Columbus.
Huang led the way on floor with a 9.850 performance followed by freshman Emily Wood with a 9.800. Freshman Avery Balser matched her career high with a 9.775, while Joyner posted a 9.700 in the event.
Freshman Jenna Ferguson posted a new career high of 9.825 to lead RU on vault. Joyner added a 9.825 as well to tie for the team lead. Freshman Calah Newman matched her career best of 9.800 in the event, while classmate Emily Leese also added a personal best with a 9.775. Huang rounded out top vault performances with a 9.750.
In their third rotation, Joyner and Balser posted identical team high scores of 9.700 to top the lineup for the Scarlet Knights.
Joyner closed the meet strong for Rutgers with a school-record 9.950 on beam, claiming first place and setting a new career high. Joyner has posted a score of 9.9 or better on beam 10 times as a Scarlet Knight, adding to a total of 13 marks of 9.9 or higher across all four events in her young career.
Senior Emily Drauss recorded a career-high 9.850, while junior Kiera Doherty-Herwitz added a 9.850 with her routine as well. Ferguson posted a 9.750, while freshman Stephanie Zannella posted an identical score of 9.750 to add the team mark of 49.150. The total comes in as the fifth-best team event score on beam in Rutgers history.
Joyner recorded a 39.175 all-around score followed by Huang with a 38.425.
