PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Junior Tess Fisher of Rutgers tennis was named the Big Ten Athlete of the Week, the league announced Tuesday. Fisher helped claim the team doubles point and added a singles win in the 4-0 victory over Maryland.
In doubles action, Fisher teamed up with Alisa Prinyarux to register a 6-1 in at the No. 2 doubles spot to secure the team point for RU. The junior then went on to record a 6-4, 6-0 at the No. 2 singles spot, clinching the match for the Scarlet Knights.
Fisher has captured three Big Ten singles victories this season, while contributing to six doubles wins in league play. Her wins over UMD pushed RU to its third Big Ten victory of the season, marking the most conference wins in a single year since joining the league.
The Vineland, New Jersey, native earns the first weekly honor of her career and second for the Rutgers tennis program. The last Scarlet Knight to earn the honor was redshirt-senior Jaci Cochrane in 2018.
Rutgers returns to action for two home matches this weekend, hosting Iowa on Friday, April 9 and Nebraska on Sunday, April 11.
