Joshua Mather claims Silver Medal, Steven Coponi takes fifth at Big Ten Championships
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Rutgers track and field earned its first points from a pair of javelin throwers on day one of competition at the 2021 Big Ten Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday, May 14 at Demirjian Park. Joshua Mather captured the Silver Medal in the javelin, while Steven Coponi earned a podium finish, placing fifth in the event.
Mather recorded a personal-best throw of 72.36m (237' 5") to take the second spot in his first career appearance at the championship meet. Coponi followed with a throw of 63.24m (207' 6") to finish fifth and add to the Scarlet Knights point total.
