NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. – Sophomore Christina Pender of Rutgers rowing has been invited to the United States Rowing National Team Selection Camp, it was announced by USRowing.
Athletes selected through the camp will represent the United States at the 2021 World Rowing Under 23 Championships from July 7-11 in Racice, Czech Republic.
The women's selection camp will run June 1-20 at the University of Iowa under the direction of Andrew Carter, assisted by Liz Tuppen and Molly Hamrick. The camp will select the athletes who will represent the U.S. in the women's eight, women's four with coxswain, women's four and women's quadruple sculls in Racice.
Pender is a member of the Scarlet Knights' Second Varsity 8, which just wrapped up another successful season by competing in the NCAA Championships. Pender and the Second Varsity 8 earned a bronze medal at the 2021 Big Ten Championships, the first podium finish for that Rutgers boat since joining the elite rowing conference.
