PISCATAWAY, N.J. – For the fifth consecutive season, Rutgers women's golf was pegged one of the nation's top 25 programs in academic performance by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA). With their 3.820 team GPA for the 2020-21 academic year, the Scarlet Knights tied for 25th nationally and were one of just three Big Ten programs to appear on the prestigious list.
Six RU student-athletes –
Leigha Devine,
Anna-Maria Diederichs,
Sun Hwang,
Rikke Nordvik,
Maeve Rossi and
Manon Tounalom – were named 2021 WGCA Division I All-American Scholars, with all securing 3.50 or above cumulative GPAs this past season.
Under head coach
Kari Williams' leadership, the Scarlet Knights have now accumulated 33 All-America Scholar awards since 2015. Five Scarlet Knights – Devine, Diederichs, Rossi,
Lori Char and
Nicole Ewing – collected 2020-21 Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and Academic All-Big Ten accolades this past spring.
Rutgers also enjoyed another productive season on the course, as the Scarlet Knights carded the lowest 54-hole score in program history at the River Landing Classic on March 9 in Wallace, North Carolina. Rossi also produced the program's second-lowest 54-hole individual scorecard (-4) at the River Landing Classic, while Diederichs earned Big Ten Golfer of the Week accolades after she tied for 11th on March 24 at the Pinetree Invitational in Kennesaw, Georgia. Devine wrapped up the season by qualifying as one of 30 amateurs for the prestigious U.S. Women's Open, held from June 3-6 at the Olympic Club in San Francisco.

The Women's Golf Coaches Association, founded in 1983, is a non-profit organization representing women's collegiate golf coaches. The WGCA was formed to encourage the playing of college golf for women in correlation with a general objective of education and in accordance with the highest tradition of intercollegiate competition. Today, the WGCA represents over 650 coaches throughout the U.S. and is dedicated to educating, promoting and recognizing both its members and the student-athletes they represent.
