PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers Director of Track and Field and Cross Country Bobby Farrell announced that Josh Lockhart will join the program and serve as director of operations. A track and field athlete at the University of Connecticut, Lockhart will oversee the day-to-day planning and logistics for the Scarlet Knights.
"We are very pleased to have Josh join the staff," said Farrell. "He is going to be a critical asset in ensuring that our student-athletes have the best support and experience possible. He will be instrumental to the program in all facets of building a championship program. We look forward to him getting started."
In his role with the Scarlet Knights, Lockhart will manage the travel planning for the program, including arranging all meals, per diem requests and distribution and developing itineraries for each trip. He will also assist with recruiting schedules and travel arrangements.
Lockhart served as an administration assistant in the Connecticut athletic department where he worked with the Athletic Director office, human resources, senior woman administrator and chief operating officer. He assisted with the daily operations of the business office, supported the marketing staff of game days and worked on various projects, including travel reimbursements as well as capital and budgeting projects.
Prior to joining Rutgers, Lockhart was a HuskySport Department of Educational Leadership Graduate Assistant with the Connecticut Sport Management master's program. He assisted the program director with planning and coordination of the HuskySport programming, organizing lesson plans and taught life and development skills for elementary-aged students.
Lockhart also founded a non-profit organization, Consistently Motivated, which utilizes sports to build character within youth through mentorship and former student-athlete experiences. He organized a Thanksgiving food drive that served over 100 families in Hartford, Connecticut and partnered with local organizations to work with underserved youth.
Lockhart graduated from Connecticut in 2018 with a degree in urban and community studies. He later earned his master's in sport management at Connecticut in 2020.
