PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers men's soccer continues to earn national and conference recognition with senior defender
Thomas DeVizio making the Top Drawer Soccer National Team of the Week and freshman forward
Nico Rosamilia earning Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week.
Â
DeVizio's honor is Rutgers' second national award of the season, and Rosamilia's award is Rutgers' third consecutive Big Ten weekly accolade in as many weeks to start the year.
Â
DeVizio made Top Drawer Soccer's national honor roll following his first career two-assist game in the 3-2 victory over Lehigh last Friday night. His two second-half helpers tied the game at 2-2, and eventually put RU up for good in the 81
st minute.
Â
Rosamilia netted his first two collegiate goals on Monday against Saint Joseph's, the entirety of Rutgers' offense in the 2-1 victory to keep the Scarlet Knights unbeaten at 5-0-1. The freshman came off the bench and took a match-high three shots on target in his 49 minutes of action. The rookie has five points over his first six matches.
Â
The Scarlet Knights moved up in the United Soccer Coaches regional rankings this week from No. 8 to No. 7, formulated before Monday's results. RU kicks off at No. 11 Indiana on Friday at 8 p.m. ET on Big Ten+ from Bloomington.
