LEXINGTON, Ky. – Rutgers track and field traveled its full squad to the Jim Green Invitational on the campus of the University of Kentucky. The Scarlet Knights turned in several standout performances, including securing a school record and four event wins. RU had a total of 20 PRs on the weekend.
Freshman distance runner
Alex Carlson made her indoor debut carrying over the momentum from a breakout cross country season on her way to capturing a school record time in the mile. Carlson clocked a time of 4:43.36 to claim the Rutgers record previously set 38-year-old by Desiree Scott in Jan. 1984.
"I'm really proud of the all-around effort from both teams," said Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Bobby Farrell. "This is the first meet for most of them and we were primarily focused on executing what we have trained for in practice. We saw some really strong performances in all event groups, especially for this time of year."
