Track and Field Closes Out Jim Green Invitational

Scarlet Knights capture wins in four events, including school record

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Rutgers track and field traveled its full squad to the Jim Green Invitational on the campus of the University of Kentucky. The Scarlet Knights turned in several standout performances, including securing a school record and four event wins. RU had a total of 20 PRs on the weekend.

Freshman distance runner Alex Carlson made her indoor debut carrying over the momentum from a breakout cross country season on her way to capturing a school record time in the mile. Carlson clocked a time of 4:43.36 to claim the Rutgers record previously set 38-year-old by Desiree Scott in Jan. 1984.

"I'm really proud of the all-around effort from both teams," said Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Bobby Farrell. "This is the first meet for most of them and we were primarily focused on executing what we have trained for in practice.  We saw some really strong performances in all event groups, especially for this time of year."

Freshman Charlee Crawford earned a win in the 400-meter with a time of 56.61, while senior Perry Christie and junior A'nan Bridgett posted wins on the men's side in their respective events. Christie cleared a height of 2.11m (6' 11") in the high jump and Bridgett was victorious in the long jump with a leap of 7.47m (24' 6.25").

In addition to the four individual wins, the Scarlet Knights posted a total of 10 finishes in the top-three. On the women's side, freshman Chloe Timberg took second in the pole vault, clearing a height of 4.05m (13' 3.50"), while junior Jasmine Van Note placed second in the shot put with a throw of 14.14m (46' 4.75"). Senior Courteney Campbell finished in a tie for second in the high jump with a mark of 1.71m (5' 7.25").

Junior Icisys Sadler placed third in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.37, while Ajae Alvarez-Tyler ran a 57.17 in the 400-meter to finish third. Sophomore Claudine Smith took third in the triple jump recording a leap of 12.09m (39' 8"). The distance medley relay team of Lou Mialhe, Sheriyah Nutt, Mackenzie Prezume and Carlson added another third-place finish for the Scarlet Knights with a time of 11:41.07 in the event.

Freshman Sincere Robinson finished second in the long jump as he recorded a leap of 7.33m (24' 0.75") in one of his three events on the weekend. He also competed in the 4x400-meter relay along with Aaron Black, Jameson Woodell and James Bivins as the group finished third with a time of 3:25.81.
