PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers women's basketball (7-12, 0-7) fell to Wisconsin (4-12, 1-5) by a score of 49-45 on Sunday afternoon at Jersey Mike's Arena.
 
Osh Brown's 55^th career double-double and a 19-point first quarter were not enough to fend off the Badgers, who outscored the Scarlet Knights over the final three periods.
 
Brown had 11 points and 10 rebounds, while Lasha Petree added 10 and Shug Dickson had nine to go with six assists and four steals.
 
The Scarlet Knights could not overcome 25 turnovers as Wisconsin led in points off miscues, 21-13. Rutgers did win the rebounding battle, 33-19, and outshot Wisconsin 48% to 38%.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Rutgers' hot start was driven by a 9-of-13 mark from the field while holding Wisconsin to 2-of-11 as Rutgers scored the first eight points of the game the last eight points of the opening quarter. Tyia Singleton had four points and four boards, while Shug Dickson had four points, two assists, and a steal in the frame.
• Dickson scored four consecutive points around the 4:00 mark of the second, then both teams turned up the defense ahead of halftime with a pair of 3:30 scoring droughts. Wisconsin inched closer at 27-18 at the break.
• Osh Brown broke up a 6-0 Wisconsin run to start the second half with a three-point play on a strong finish in traffic. Lasha Petree hit a three to keep the lead at nine before the Badgers chipped away and trailed 37-30 with 10 to play.
• An 8-0 Wisconsin spurt officially erased the RU lead and had the Badgers up 45-41 with 2:21 to play. Petree's bucket got Rutgers within two at 47-45 with 1:07 left, but that would be RU's final points as Wisconsin finished the game from the free throw line.

KNIGHT NOTES

• Osh Brown recorded her sixth double-double of the season, and the 55^th of her career (the most among all active NCAA Division I women's basketball players).
• Shug Dickson recorded 5+ assists in a game for the 12^th time in her career.
• Lasha Petree made multiple 3-point field goals in a game for the seventh time this season, and third in a row against Big Ten opponents.
• Outrebounding Wisconsin, 33-19 Rutgers has now outperformed 16 of 19 opponents this season on the glass with an average margin of +7.0 on the entire season.
• Double-figure scoring career marks: Brown (78^th), Petree (75^th).
• Holding Wisconsin 15 points under their season average, Rutgers has held 35 of its last 38 opponents under their scoring averages.
• The Starting 5 of Shug Dickson, Sayawni Lassiter, Lasha Petree, Tyia Singleton, and Osh Brown took the floor for the fourth time this season as a starting unit.
• Rutgers is now 11-3 all-time against Wisconsin, 8-2 as Big Ten regular season opponents, and 5-1 at home.
