BOSTON, Mass. –
Chloe Timberg took sole possession of the Rutgers school record in the indoor pole vault and senior
Courteney Campbell added the indoor high jump record to her career accomplishments at the Battle in Beantown on the campus of Boston University on Saturday, Jan. 22. In addition to the two school records, the Scarlet Knights turned in strong performances all around, going 1-2 in the women's pole vault and high jump as well as 26 personal records.
Timberg previously tied the school record in the season opener and set a new mark this weekend in Boston. Clearing the bar at 4.25m (13' 11.25"), Timberg claimed first in the pole vault and earned the school record. She was joined on the podium by teammate
Ka'Leila Abrille, who placed second with a height of 4.15m (13' 7.25").
Campbell, the school record holder in the outdoor high jump, cleared the bar at 1.81m (5' 11.25") to take first.
Alivia Ash gave the Scarlet Knights their other 1-2 finish on the afternoon as she hit a height of 1.70m (5' 7") to finish second.
"We took another good step forward as a team," said Director of Track & Field and Cross Country
Bobby Farrell. "Proud of the efforts all around. We've trained through the last two weeks so it's been good to see such improvement in spite of how much we've loaded them in our training cycles. The next three weeks will be very important as we build towards the Big Ten Championship."
Jasmine Van Note posted the other first-place finish on the women's side as she won the shot put (Jarred Rome) with a throw of 15.34m (50' 4").
Claudine Smith finished second in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.72, while
Reanda Richards took second in the 200-meter with a time of 24.78. The 4x400-meter relay team of Richards,
Charlee Crawford,
Shelby Whetstone and
Shanelle Colmon took second with a time of 3:47.19.
Aliya Harrison earned two top-3 finishes as she ran 7.60 in the 60-meter to place third and finished third in the 200-meter with a time of 24.96.
On the men's side, the Scarlet Knights enjoyed similar success in the field events as
Nico Morales placed second in the pole vault, clearing a height of 4.90m (16' 0.75").
Jabari Higgs-Salaam also finished second in the long jump, recording a distance of 7.05m (23' 1.75"). Rutgers earned third-place finishes three other events, including
Perry Christie in the high jump – 2.01m (6' 7"),
Kyle Lipscomb in the weight throw – 18.57m (60' 11.25") and
Adam Hunt in the Jarred Rome section of the shot put – 17.02m (55' 10.25").
Jin Choi won the other shot section with a throw of 14.58m (47' 10") and
Micah Wood finished third in the 300-meter 1:19.46.
Rutgers returns to action on Jan. 28 for the Bob Pollock Invitational on the Clemson campus.
