STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – Rutgers cross country sophomore
Alex Carlson placed ninth at the PSU National Open on Friday, Oct. 14 to lead the women's squad for the third-straight race of the season.
Carlson ran a time of 20:47.7 to help guide the Scarlet Knights to a 10th-place team finish in a field of 18 schools in the women's 6K. Adding to the scoring was
Kassidy Johnson with a top-25 finish as she placed 24th overall in a time of 21.18.2. Rounding out the group was
Sofia Condron (52nd, 21:56.8),
Michelle Lupu (59th, 22:10.8) and
Isabella Godish (94th, 22:59.8) in a field that consisted of more than 160 individual runners.
The men's team placed 14th in the 5.2-mile race, led by
Alec Snell who took 66th with a time of 26.52.4. The individual field on the men's side featured more than 130 runners as
Liam Tilton (77th, 27:01.4),
Gavin Richards (86th, 27:13.0),
Christopher Hill (98th, 27:27.9) and
Ryan Mitchell (104th, 27:33.2) added to the group scoring.
Next up for the Scarlet Knights is the Big Ten Championships on Friday, Oct. 28 at the U-M Golf Course in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The team previously competed at the site for the Big Ten Preview on Sept. 9.Â
