Boone McDermott (HWT) – claimed individual titles to highlight action at the Roadrunner Open on Sunday in Bakersfield, California. The open concluded the Scarlet Knights' road trip to the West Coast, which opened with a 20-15 dual win over Stanford on Saturday in Palo Alto.
Heilmann went 5-0 on Sunday with two tech falls and two major decisions. The South Plainfield, New Jersey, native faced Jason Shaner (Oregon State) in the 133-pound final and delivered a 2-0 decision with an escape point and riding time in the third period. White opened his tournament with a tech fall and a pin, added a 6-2 decision in the semifinals and defeated Riley Gurr (Oregon State-unattached) by 8-7 decision to cap his tournament with a title at 149 pounds.
McDermott was dominant en route to his individual heavyweight title, as he opened the day with a 12-second pin. McDermott than worked another first-period fall against Chris Island (Cal Baptist) in the championship bout to make it three individual champions for Rutgers at the Open.

Brian Soldano (184) – also advanced to championship finals at the Roadrunner Open. Shawver collected two major decisions before he suffered a tight 3-1 loss in SV1 to No. 10 Brandon Kaylor (Oregon State) in his final match. Soldano added two pins to his ledger before also losing to a top-10 opponent in No. 6 Trey Munoz (Oregon State) by 5-3 decision for his first loss of the season, while Clark advanced to the semifinals before registering a medical forfeit in the finals.
