
Joseph-Day, Los Angeles Rams Win Super Bowl LVI

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Former Rutgers football player Sebastian Joseph-Day and the Los Angeles Rams defeated the Cincinnati Bengals, 23-20, to win Super Bowl LVI on Sunday at Sofi Stadium in Los Angeles. Joseph-Day became the 16th player in program history to win a Super Bowl and the first since Duron Harmon, Devin McCourty and Jason McCourty won Super Bowl LIII with the New England Patriots.
Joseph-Day, who had been inactive due to injury since Week 8 of the regular season, logged three snaps at defensive tackle on Sunday. It was Joseph-Day's second Super Bowl, as he was a member of the Rams' 53-man roster as a rookie in Super Bowl LIII. Prior to his injury, Joseph-Day tallied 38 tackles and a career-high three sacks in seven games during the 2021 season, all starts.

Now in his fourth NFL season, Joseph-Day finished his Rutgers career playing in 49 consecutive games and 50 overall. The defensive lineman totaled 41 tackles as a senior with 4.5 tackles-for-loss, 1.5 sacks, one pass batted down, one forced fumble and one blocked field goal. During his career, Joseph-Day totaled 97 tackles during his career "On the Banks" along with 14.5 tackles-for-loss, 3.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, two passes batted down and two forced fumbles.
Rutgers football standout Clark Harris also competed in the Super Bowl as Cincinnati's long snapper, logging 10 snaps on special teams. Harris and Joseph-Day's participation made it 23 former Rutgers football standouts who have combined for 34 appearances in the big game.
