PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Junior Anna-Maria Diederichs was named Big Ten Golfer of the Week, announced Thursday by the conference office. Diederichs secured an individual title for Rutgers women's golf with a seven-under-par scorecard last week at the Jackrabbit Invitational in Boulder City, Nevada.
Diederichs' win at the Jackrabbit Invite was the first of her career and the first 54-hole title for the Scarlet Knights since Harriet Allsebrook won the 2019 Juli Insker Invitational in Fairfax, California. The Big Ten weekly honor is her third and the first since she earned the accolade last spring after her tied-for-11th result at the Pinetree Invite.
Competing in her first tournament of the year, Diederichs fired off a seven-under-par 209 (72-66-71) to finish four strokes ahead of the tournament's runner-ups in Boulder City. Up four strokes with 18 holes to play, Diederichs produced a one-under-par 71 in the final round, highlighted by four consecutive birdies on holes 10 through 13. The performance helped Diederichs - who finished the tournament with an 18-hole low 66 in the second round and a tournament-best 13 birdies - secure the first tournament title of her collegiate career.
Diederichs' second-round score of 66 (-6) tied the program record for low 18-hole score, while her seven-under-par 209 ranks second in program history.
Rutgers returns to action from April 15-16 at the Buckeye Invitational in Columbus, Ohio.
